The Casa de Fe was begun about 5 years ago by western missionary Patti Sue, who noted a great need in Shell for a shelter for kids in need. She started with just a few kids in her home and over the years her population of kids and her ability to care for them increased.

The orphanage now is home for 60 kids ranging in age from 1 to 16 years. The current building is bursting at the seams with kids and the new building project which began a year or so ago is desperately needed. It is located about a half mile outside Shell on a multi-acre plot of land purchased with a few years ago. A large multipurpose building has been started and there are plans for five smaller houses for the kids and caretaker parents.

Wanda worked in the orphanage every day - teaching art to those five years old and above, helping with homework or tutoring, or just holding and playing with the littlest kids. The kids loved her art projects and were very responsive to the classes and to her instruction.
