    The Eulogy

The Eulogy has often, in modern Christian circles at least, been incorporated into a Celebration of Life as a means of honoring the deceased—of recounting the positive character traits and accomplishments that marked a life well lived. In the past, a single eulogy stood as personal tribute alongside the pastor's sermon, in which the Gospel message of salvation and eternal life in Christ was proclaimed. More commonly today, multiple speakers share the role, offering anecdotes or remembrances of a more personal nature.

As time has passed and my years have accumulated, it is natural that I have more often been called upon to speak—for relatives and friends alike. What the following pages contain are those eulogies: tributes given for my father, an uncle, a sister, and a dear friend, each delivered in the humbling honor of having been asked to speak on their behalf.
